Hello Dear One!
Ok! So have you ever wished to make big change in the waistband department, and embarked upon said endeavor only to feel FRUSTRATED with what was/wasn’t resulting???
Due to the high magnification of lens that people who are desiring to lose weight don at said point of commitment – I thought to hopefully breathe a little perspective into this (often) intensely charged undertaking.
What to expect when you’re expecting to lose weight?
NOTHING!!
At least at first!
Weight loss is NOT instantaneous – especially if you go about it in a healthy way (not that that has to mean slow, but it certainly should mean SOUND).
When we aim to adopt different lifestyle habits in order to create a different outcome, the level of attention we need to be upholding is BIG, and often that attention strays from our supportive behaviors and settles onto methods to RECORD change, not create it (ie: fit bits, MyFitness Pal, or the SCALE).
A conversation I had w a recent coaching client who owned up to her previous tendency to be hypervigilant about the scale, and wished for some advice on what to focus on instead to literally assist her with stepping away from it.
My answer: “Focus on the behaviors that you know to do in order to get what you’re desiring.”
That was helpful to mentally untangle her attention from something that would only measure change – NOT create it.
This sounds so obvious, yes? But it’s really not.
The truth is what to expect when you’re expecting to lose weight is that UNLESS you fall in love with the process and all the pieces that you GET to experience and benefit from – you either won’t stay at it long enough to create substantial change, and/OR you won’t be able to sustain that change over the long haul.
Which is where we’d like it to reside yes?
For Fat Burners some of the process we get to fall in love with over and over again is…
Taking our supplements that help with energy, hormonal balance, SKIN luminosity, improved sleep quality, more regular bowel movements, prevention of premature aging and premature death (NO joke).
Eating delicious meal replacement items, coffee in a way that is delectable and supportive, fat burning meals that are satisfying, delicious, and NOT restrictive.
Doing particular exercises as the biology shifts enabling us to GO FOR IT when appropriate and never wonder if what we’re doing is right/too much/not enough for our goals.
Feeling rested from 7 plus hours of sleep that also supports our thyroid and our metabolism.
Feeling clear on how to have carbs, eat them too, and still lose weight(!).
Learning how to assess our own biology as to whether we’re in a fat burning mode – or NOT, and understanding how to get BACK.
Trying out new recipes, and knowing what “fat burning foods” actually FEEL like when you eat them!
Prioritizing pleasure, or making a point to insert it where possible, to say no to things that don’t feel good or serve, and to do an amazing practice that is emotionally freeing…
THIS. THIS is the stuff to focus on (at the very least for fat burners).
This is the stuff to fall in love with and enjoy the crap put of because of how CARING it feels to both tend to our body, to honor our biology, and to understand more about our own signals and what they mean.
When we do all this – FAT LOSS HAPPENS.
And it happens without the crazy emotional swings, because we’re not as desperate about a result, as we’re more involved with our own process due to having all our senses be on US and what is happening based on how we’re FEELING, vs just how we’re looking or how much we weigh.
IF we have been doing it, that will show, and typically where the feedback often happens first is with loved ones around us and in our clothes.
So again, change is evident, not needing to be scrutinized to be ensured.
So what to expect when you’re expecting to lose weight?
Really? 1-2 lbs a week.
That change CAN be faster depending on where someone is when they begin (more weight = easier to lose, generally), and how they’re going about doing this (strategy is helpful!).
So if you’re feeling less than clear, less than patient, OR like you’ve waited long enough with NO change happening – learning more about Fat Burning, or the Fat Burning Mastery Program could prove useful.
To getting you clearer on how the body works, & how to make it work for you. xox, M
