Does this suggestion sound crazy?
It might actually be if taking a cute and less clothed picture of yourself would only spurn more criticism.
But the opportunity that admiring yourself holds is to actually offer PRAISE.
I’ve recently been made even more aware of the fact that in order to feel good, or even NOT BAD, we have to affirm the CRAP out of ourselves.
In a culture that often tends to focus on what’s wrong vs what’s good, WE need to be vigilant, especially in the realm of ourselves, regarding what we’d like to put our attention on and HOW we’d like to feel.
I work with A LOT of busy professionals Moms that run their own mini empires, are responsible for TONS, and are often VERY hard on themselves despite performing miracles and completing unreasonable tasks DAILY.
And with that, the focus on what ISN’T is commonplace (and CRAZY if we really think about it), and ISN’T helpful.
With fat burning, personal training and coaching clients alike, I aim to redirect attention to what’s good (even GREAT!) about who they are and what they’re doing.
We walk hand in hand into the realm of BRAGGING about…
How SMART they were for making that decision.
How SEXY they must have looked in their new outfit.
How FUN they are for planning an unexpected evening out!
How COURAGEOUS they were for speaking up and standing for their pleasure when it would’ve been easy to remain silent.
How IMPORTANT they are and how much their preferences matter.
How PRECIOUS they are and how their joy and well being is the most crucial thing on the planet.
What we focus on grows.
And when we continually buoy ourselves up with words of praise and celebration we feel BETTER.
And when we FEEL better, we TREAT ourselves (and OTHERS!!) better.
When we have our best interests at heart it is SO MUCH easier to follow through on what serves us best, and sidestep the shit that ends in frustration and remorse.
So what’s GREAT about who you are or what you’re currently doing?
If it’s not overly evident at this moment, start to look for signs of your goodness and greatness.
The more you look the more of a treasure trove you’ll find yourself to be.
