If last minute tasks are added up faster than expected, or if people and commitments are starting to leave you feeling frayed or run down – here are a few quick tips to remedy such a state.
1. FROM FREAKED OUT TO CHILLED OUT
I have talked about this AMAZING breathing technique in the past around wrestling with anxiety ESPECIALLY in the realm of emotional eating.
There is a different breath rate for each physiological state corresponding to our emotions, and when we change our BREATH we can change how our body is responding.

2. LIGHTEN THE MOOD
Laughter IS the best medicine, and it is CERTAINLY an incredible remedy to stress.
Stress is a mental game, so anything you can do to disengage from the current mental state you’re in – or from the circling thoughts – the better.
And anything that feels GREAT is GREAT!
Watch something RIDICULOUS on You Tube, go read/look at something humorous, call your loved one who ALWAYS makes you laugh.
GET IT.
And that getting will help you to feel GOOD.
3. BE HONEST
Jesus freaking christ.
This is NOT for the faint of heart, but it will truly set you free.
Holding things INSIDE is what causes stress, and putting them on the OUTSIDE makes them either able to be dealt with or to disappear…
Even being honest about being stressed is a HUGE start.
“Fine”, is not an emotion, and it’s often a big flag that all isn’t.
Be vocal about what’s so to unburden yourself, and in the process create the opportunity for change and deeper intimacy with loved ones around you.
TRUTH!
4. MAKE YOURSELF RIGHT
What this really means is getting into agreement with what’s INSIDE of you and what’s OUTSIDE of you.
Stress is caused from RESISTANCE.
If we get on board with how we feel, what we’re doing, what’s happening around us – we eliminate stress.
And if you don’t LIKE what’s going on, making it right (because it’s HAPPENING), will give you the opportunity to change it by making a different choice, versus just to keep banging your head against the same wall.

The less stress you have this Holiday Season not only will you enjoy yourself more, but you’ll also be less likely to reach for more to drink or eat in order to manage that stress.
