Sweat More Work Less

Hello Dear One!

Have you believed the, “No Pain, No Gain!”, mantra that often accompanies a fitness mindset – especially when wishing to create change?

Now it’s true that if you’re both working consistently in the world of the workout, as well as with a bit more intensity – chances are you will make a larger impact in the direction of your desires.

HOWEVER – not only are super challenging workouts not a great idea to participate in with a high degree of frequency due to the negative hormonal impact (namely cortisol – which WILL reinforce a Sugar Burning mode.  Check out the 5 Parts of Fat Burning if you’ve yet to.) – but higher intensity workouts can be HARD on the body.

Namely to the tune of taking a longer time for the body to recover, increasing the likelihood of injury, as well as simply being less pleasant to do – easily resulting in NOT being done.

SO, how do we have our cake and eat it too?

So glad you asked.

An amazingly easy way to make your everyday workout into a sweat fest is to MOVE YOUR ARMS.

Really?  Yes.

Move your arms when you don’t need to.  Move your arms when the exercise is only for the legs.  Move your arms in big arcs, at small angles, whatever is comfortable – but MOVE YOUR ARMS.

AND if you’d like to add one more adjustment to the dial of heart rate and perspiration enhancement – add in elements of BALANCE.

This has always seemed like such a trivial addition to some bodyweight or low weight move to me – but it’s actually no joke.

Stand on one leg when you could be on two.  Balance on one leg/knee/foot while extending the opposite arm.

Keep doing it in the workout and see what happens.

Chances are you’ll surprise yourself with how much MORE you sweat (without feeling DESTROYED or majorly uncomfortable) while augmenting your exercises with some moves that are seemingly benign.

AND the fact that sweat is enhanced while still being able to talk and breathe comfortably means you are undeniably BURNING FAT with these additions.
